Louisville Grass Fire
On January 5th, 2025 at 14:55 Louisville Fire Protection District Engine 529 was toned out for a combine on fire possibly spreading to the grass in the 1700 block of S. 104th St. in Louisville. Battalion 425 reported smoke from Good Samaritan and upgraded it to a wildland assignment. Boulder County Communications advised that 911 caller reporting that the grass fire was about 3 acres in size with live stock in danger. Battalion 425 arrived to a wind driven running grass fire on S. 104 St. south of Dillon Rd. moving towards Hwy. 287. Evacuations were ordered and crews were able to keep it from crossing Northwest Parkway and Hwy. 287. Battalion 62 arrived on Hwy 287 and Dillon Rd. and assumed North Metro command and requested a major incident tone. The fire was put under control at 15:49 and crews started overhaul on hot spots and worked on a very large hay pile that was also burning due to the fire, which burned into the evening and was monitored throughout the night.
