2nd Alarm Brush Fire
On May 29th, 2020 at 13:23 MetCom dispatched Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue along with the I-70 corridor to a large brush fire at County Rd. 137 (Kiowa-Bennett Rd.) & E. Quincy Ave. (County Rd. 30) in eastern Arapahoe County. Battalion 91 arrived to several fire burning with the first one about 4 acres burning west of Quincy Ave. moving northwest. Brush Engine 91 arrived to a 2nd fire on County Rd. 137 and started fire attack on torching trees. Battalion 91 upgraded the call to a 2nd alarm wildland fire due to three more fires and structures threatened. Tender 91 established the water supply just south of County Rd. 137 with Tender 31 and Tender 92. Crews worked several structure protection operations and started evacuation orders for the residents in the area. The fire was contained around 14:30 and crews were on scene for several hours with extensive overhaul and mopping up hot spots. The fire burned around 20 to 25 acres. No injuries were reported and no structures were lost.
