Abandoned Dog Track Fire

On August 12th, 2023 Deer Trail Rural Fire Protection District, I-70 Corridor fire department with several other agencies from Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at the old race track near Hwy. 40 and Peoria Rd. in Arapahoe County. Quint 91 arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the top floor of one of the buildings. Numerous agencies were requested to send tenders to the scene. Crews were on scene several hours extinguishing the fire, checking for hot spots and mopping up. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
