Plainview Fire

The Plainview Fire was reported on February 7th, 2026 at 08:35 near the intersection of Hwy. 72 and Hwy. 93 between Boulder and Golden. Crews arrived to a fast wind driven fire that was burning in light, flashy fuels in the open space areas along the highway with multiple fire and law agencies from Jefferson County and Boulder County. At 08:50, the fire was at 20 acres and 80% containment, but with the gusting winds of approximately 25 miles per hour pushed the fire to a total of 130 acres at full containment. A pre-evacuation notice was issued around 09:37 to the Candelas community and Plainview neighborhood including Blue Mountain Estates, Leyden Rock and the Rocky Flats area. The pre-evacuations were lifted after 11:00 with no structures lost or no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
