On December 5th, 2021 West Metro Fire Rescue in the afternoon responded to a reported wildland fire burning in area of Ken Caryl Valley under a Red Flag Warning. Around the same time Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District was dispatched to a fire burring close to West Ranch. Crews arrived and found the fire a half mile from the West Ranch community in Inter-Canyon’s fire district and about 4 to 5 acres. Crews worked the fire into the night with heavy winds in dense oak brush, grass, and steep terrain. Light snow fell during the night and significantly reduced the fire behavior. On December 6th, 2021 firefighters worked to establish containment line around fire with no growth during the night. The fire burned 12 acres.
