On October 7th, 2022 the Heavy Rescue Academy was held over the last couple of weeks at the North Metro Fire Training Center. The training also consisted of some of the departments that are part of the North Area Technical Rescue Team (NATRT). Before graduating, the observation day was held with the firefighters demonstrating their ability to perform technical rescues in high-angle, structural collapse, trench and confined space environments. The 33 firefighters that graduated where from 13 participating fire departments: Adams County Fire Rescue, Arvada Fire Protection District, Boulder Fire-Rescue Department, Brighton Fire Rescue District, Federal Heights Fire Department, Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, Lafayette Fire Department, Longmont Fire Department, Mountain View Fire Rescue, North Metro Fire Rescue District, South Adams County Fire Department, Thornton Fire Department and Westminster Fire Department.
