Stone Canyon Fire
On July 30th, 2024 around 13:40 Lyons Fire Protection District responded to a possible wildland fire on Eagle Ridge in the Stone Canyon area northeast of Lyons. Crews arrived to a fast moving wildland fire and requested evacuations for all of Stone Mountain and mutual-aid response and air support. Brush 4031 arrived in rough terrain and started fire attack. Engine 6531 started structure protection. The fire burned 1,557 acres and was 100% containment on July 3rd, 2024. Several aircraft were put on loan from the Alexander Mountain Fire operations with multiple air tankers dropping retardant. Evacuations were also requested for Steamboat Valley and Eagle Ridge.
