On April 1st, 2023 at 18:07 Jeffcom dispatched Golden Gate Fire Protection District with Fairmount Fire Protection DistrictGolden Fire Department and Stadium Medical to a working brush fire in the 4200 block of Bear Rd. in Golden Gate Canyon. Battalion 30 enroute advised of smoke showing and Brush 32 requested a wildland strike team and more resources for structure protection. Jefferson County Sherriff deputies started evacuations of the area on Bear Rd. Chief 82 requested air resources and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control MMA. Brush 32 arrived on scene with a working grass fire approximately 2 acres in size and Battalion 30 arrived and assumed command. Brush 24 assisted Brush 32 on the north flank with fire attack and Brush 81 assigned to the structure protection. Homes were evacuated in the area of Bear Rd. and a pre-evacuation notice was sent out northwest of Golden Gate Canyon Rd. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire to about 7 acres and with no loss of any structures. Crews stayed on scene through the night and into the next morning.
