South Rim Fire

The South Rim Fire was reported on July 10th, 2025 at 11:39 in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Montrose County. In the evening of July 14th, 2025 a wind event caused rapid fire spread and for firefighter safety, crews were temporarily pulled back from the fireline. A Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control surge taskforce, made up of engines and fire modules is on scene. The fire has burned 4,232 acres as of August 5th, 2025 and is at 52% containment.
