Snyder Fire

The Snyder Fire (Snyder Mesa Fire) started on June 26th, 2026 and is burning along the Colorado and Utah border in Mesa County (Colorado) and Grand County (Utah). The fire has burned 30,202 acres and 98% containment as of July 9th, 2026 and all pre-evacuation and evacuation notices issued in response to fire have been lifted by the Mesa County Sheriff. The Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 (CIMT1) is in command of the fire and a total personnel is 454. The Knowles Fire merged with the larger Snyder Fire on June 27th, 2026. Three federal wildland firefighters lost their lives in the fire and all three were part of an interagency response on the Knowles Fire when they became trapped in a burnover incident on June 27th, 2026. Two additional firefighters survived but suffered injuries and remain hospitalized. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
