Aspen Acres Fire

The Aspen Acres Fire is burning in Pueblo and Custer Counties and has burned 66,896 acres and 0% containment as of July 3rd, 2026. The fire was reported on June 29th, 2026. The Colorado Type 3 Incident Management Team was in command and the Alaska Complex Incident Management Team 1 (CIMT #1) assumed command on July 1st, 2026. The fire behavior has been extreme with crown runs and group tree torching. Multiple air tankers operated delivering retardant to slow the fire’s advance and help protect homes, critical infrastructure, watersheds, and other values at risk in the communities of Beulah Valley, Rye, Colorado City, Lake Isabel, and Red Creek. Task force of engines are working on focusing on structure protection and preventing the fire’s spread to the east and south supporting suppression efforts and protecting homes.
